The 2015 Avon Tyres British GT Championship continues today with round three, a two hour race at Rockingham Motor Speedway in steadily drying conditions after a lot of rain overnight and into the morning.
This live blog will be updated throughout the race.
Hello all! We are 25 minutes out from the third round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship!
This race is the first British GT race of the year LIVE on Motors TV
The Twisted Team Parker Ginetta G55 GT4 is still in the pits. The car had a new engine fitted overnight.
We now have 5 minutes until the formation lap gets underway. The Twisted Team Parkier Ginetta is still in the pits but the mechanics have stopped swarming around the car.
Cars are off on the formation laps. It’s the ‘gentlemen’ drivers starting the race so it’s Marco Attard on pole in the Ecurie Ecosse BMW
Cars are round on their formation lap as the Twisted Team Parker car trundles down to the end of the pit lane, it looks like they will be starting the race
Lights out and they are away, the leaders seem to get through the hairpin fine
But Andrew Howard in the #007 Aston Martin has taken the lead from Attard’s BMW
Two off at the end of the School Straight! Its both the VonRyan McLaren’s!
In all that, Jamie Chadwick still leads the GT4 battle after the first lap
Safety car is coming out now to clear up the wreckage of both the McLarens
That means Howard’s brisk lead in the Beechdean Aston is going to be negated
With that pause for the safety car we’ll go through the leaders.
Both cars have been snatched from the gravel now, we could be getting back underway in a lap or two
From the replay it seems Yoluc pulled out from a way back on the School Straight and t-bones team mate Ross Wylie
And the safety car is in this lap so we will be back racing!
Howard makes a decent start, Attard tries a lunge going into the Deene hairpin but pulls out of it
Chadwick still leads in the ‘baby’ Beechdean in GT4
Rick Parfitt’s Ginetta G55 GT3 seems to be slowing down now, will be visiting the pits
He’s missed the pit entry this time round, but he is still going slowly
Andrew Howard is still pulling out a slow gap on Attard, who is being followed by the Oman Racing Team Aston of Harthy and the #17 TF Sport Aston
#44 Ginetta of Parfitt is in the pits, but has stopped just shy of the pit lane itself
The Triple 8 BMW has damage on the left rear wheel arch from Yoluc’s lunge down the inside earlier
However, the #32 Ginetta – the sister car of Parfitt’s – is also going slowly now as well
Unseen to us, Marco Attard has taken the lead of the race from Andrew Howard
Andrew Howard has seen second and third taken from him at Gracelands as Harthy and Johnston get past
#32 Ginetta is also in the pits now as well
Steve Tandy’s #32 seems to be changing a tyre – could it be a puncture?
Liam Griffin has taken fifth off Jon Minshaw at the Deene Hairpin
Porsche has just had a spin coming out of Tarzan, seems to be fine
Leaders are now coming up against GT4 traffic now, Attard has survived the first skirmishes
Steve Tandy’s Ginetta is coming back out now
In all this, Jamie Chadwick in the Beechdean GT4 has an 8 second lead over the 2nd placed Richard Williams Toyota
Jon Minshaw in the Demon Tweeks BMW has out braked himself going into the Deene Hairpin!
He’s lost sixth place but not sure just how far down that has taken him
Ahmad Al Harthy is certainly closing up on Attard for the lead, about half a second between them!
AmDTuning Porsche has gone too far coming up to the Deene Hairpin and has lost a handful of places
The GT3 Beechdean Aston is being hassled by Liam Griffin in the 2nd Oman Racing Team Aston
Al Harthy just set the fastest lap of the race in his chase down of Attard
And now Griffin has taken fourth place from Andrew Howard!
#44 Ginetta of Rick Parfitt is being pulled into the garage now
Car spun at Deene Hairpin, one of the Academy Motorsport GT4 Astons
Griffin now is closing in on Derek Johnston for third place
It was Will Moore in the #61 that spun
Al Harthy almost touching the back of Attard now, but the BMW has just enough pace to keep ahead
Bu Al Harthy has been warned to respect track limits
And on that lap, Griffin has successfully passed Johnston in the sister Aston Martin
It is believed that the #44 Ginetta of Parfitt is an electrical issue that is keeping the car stuck in 2nd gear
The #47 of Kieran Griffin is having a good scrap with the Stratton Aston Martin
Al Harthy was held up at Kirby by GT4 traffic, his gap to Attard has gone up a bit
A sense of De Ja Vu here, Al Harthy held up again at Kirby, this time by Tolman Ginetta G55 Gt4
Lee Mowle is being swamped by Alistair MacKinnon in the RAM Racing Mercedes for sixth place
Jamie Chadwick is now hitting such a pace that she is lapping GT4 traffic now
Minshaw has dropped down to 10th after being passed by the second TF Sport Aston Martin of Andrew Jarman
University of Bolton Ginetta has spun at Deene – one of many to be caught out so far
Pit crews are preparing to deal with their entries, each driver must do 50 minutes so we are seeing minimum driver times being reached now
Attard has seen his lead eroded by Al Harthy now, down to 0.601s
Twisted Team Parker Ginetta is the first into the pits, followed by the Tolman Ginetta
Both routine stops I should add
The GPRM Toyota is also in the pits, as both the leaders come in, this could decide the lead!
Andrew Howard pits to hand over to Jonny Adam
The #2 pulls away first, Alexander Sims has to wait another 10 seconds in his stop.
Stefan Hodgetts has stopped at the end of the pit lane, doesn’t look too good
Chadwick still leads GT4, but she hasn’t been in to hand over to team mate Ross Gunn yet
The Hodgetts Toyota is back out now, but is going pretty slowly so comes back into the pits
Sims, on his first racing lap, sets the fastest lap of the race in fifth place
Jamie Chadwick pits from the lead of GT4
Daniel Lloyd now leads in the #2 handed over to him by Al Harthy
Ross Gunn still leads GT4 – passing the two former leaders who are pitting
The #51 of Jade Edwards has been given a stop/go penalty for a pit lane infringement
Sims is right on the back of Lloyd in the Aston, almost side-by-side at Piff Paff
GT3 Ginetta of Rick Parfitt is going slowly down the Steel Straight, doesn’t look like a healthy car
Twisted Team Parker Ginetta and the AmDTuning Porsche have collided at Gracelands – both have got going again – both have pitted
#44 Ginetta has a puncture on the left-rear tyre
Team Parker’s left wheel is pointing a completely different direction to rest of the wheels
University of Bolton Ginetta has pitted, looks like a tyre change
Jody Fannin in 10th has a one second stop/go penalty for a pit lane infringement
Lets go through the leaders
GT3: Lloyd, Sims, Butcher, Bell, Plato
GT4: Gunn, Robinson, Strandberg, Birch, Stanley
Lloyd goes wide at Deene Hairpin, and the BMW has got through for the lead!
It seems as though Lloyd was caught up in the traffic ahead
Mike Simpson in the #32 Ginetta has just come across the line very slowly
#32 Ginetta is being pushed into the pit garage, did have a gearbox problem says Steve Tandy
Gunn’s lead at the head of GT4 has stretched to over one minute over the #50 PMW Expo Racing Ginetta!
#62 is beached at Tarzan, looks like the safety car is coming out!
And it has come true – the green lotus is back out to bunch up the grid while the Aston is snatched
That safety car has particularly helped Ross Gunn, the second place car is ahead of him in the safety car chain so near enough a lap lead
Safety car is coming back in this lap, the beached Aston has found its way back into the pit lane
Thanks to a GT4 separating them, Sims has managed to pull away from Daniel Lloyd
Adam Carroll in the Ferrari has pulled off witch craft after going round two cars on the outside of turn one
Matt Bell has dropped back to sixth after being overtaken by the RAM Racing Mercedes
Adam Carroll has been black flagged after being adjudged to have pushed off the Academy Motorsport Aston that found itself in the gravel
#61 has taken second place in GT4 after passing the PMW Expo Racing Ginetta of Mike Robinson
Although Carroll has ignored the black flag this time round. The rebel
Carroll has now decided to come in!
Ross Gunn is on it! He has just lapped third in GT4
Lewis Plato is slowly catching Rory Butcher for third place, could become interesting in a few minutes time
#48 Fox Motorsport car has just pinched third in GT4 at Brook
There is a four car chain for 5th place with Bell being chased by the Triple 8 BMW, Jonny Adam in the Beechdean Aston and Phil Keen in the Demon Tweeks BMW
We have less than 5 minutes to go! 2nd, 3rd and 4th in GT3 are within spitting distance of each other, with Butcher really closing up on Daniel Lloyd
#48 Ginetta in third place took to the grass to avoid the GT3 battle – lost a couple of places
Rick Parfitt has made a visit to the gravel at Gracelands as we go onto the FINAL LAP!
Sims takes a dominant win as the flag drops!
In the three car battle for second, Lloyd holds on for 2nd and Butcher takes third place!
Gunn wins in GT4 from Strandberg and and Giddings
