Major Endurance Race Announced for Istanbul Park

1 Mins read

The organisers of Abu Dhabi’s Gulf 12 Hours race, have announced that a major new endurance race will take place this summer at the Intercity Istanbul Park circuit in Turkey.

The circuit, which hosted Formula 1 from 2005 to 2011, was described by Bernie Ecclestone as “the best racetrack in the world.” It has hosted other world-class events such as MotoGP, Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and the Le Mans Series.

The first race will be held on Sunday August 9 2015, and will consist of a mixture of GT, Prototype and touring cars. A race length is not known at this time.

Istanbul Park circuit is a relatively modern track, which has the famous ‘Turn 8’, a long, fast left hander. The track is only 12km from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport and 21km from Pendick Port, making it an ideal location for a race to take place, with easy access for fans and teams alike.

More details about the race are expected to arise over the next few days.
