Total Control Racing will make a welcome return to the Ginetta GT4 Supercup paddock at Oulton Park in just under two week’s time, having agreed an unexpected deal to run their GT5 Challenge charge Callum Pointon in the Yorkshire firm’s top category.
For the time being this event will be a one-off for both squad and driver, although the possibility remains open for Pointon to participate in non-clashing GT4 Supercup meetings later on in 2015.
The announcement comes after a test at Snetterton, where the twenty-one year old was coached by former British Touring Car Championship racer and British GT front runner Jonny Adam.
Pointon currently lies third in the GT5 Challenge standings after four podiums in the first six races and will be looking to maintain this form as the series heads for Silverstone, supporting the British GT Silverstone 500.
For TCR the return is equally as significant, the squad which runs cars in Ginetta’s Junior series, took Carl Breeze to both the positions of champion and vice-champion in the 2012 and 2013 GT4 Supercup title battles.
Looking ahead to his debut then, Pointon concludes saying “The G55 is a beast, a proper race car with a big engine, lots of horsepower, really good brakes and the aero as well. When you’ve been in a G40 and then jump in the G55, it’s a big difference but I adapted to it pretty well. It’d be good to be competitive at Oulton and get my name out there, but whatever happens it’ll be a really good experience.”
