“We Have Three Very Good Race Cars” – Audi to Start 4-5-6

1 Mins read

Audi Sport Team Joest were unable to match the pace of Porsche in the qualifying sessions for the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans, and instead will start from positions 4th to 6th on Saturday afternoon.

After the first qualifying session on Wednesday evening, the Audi mechanics completely rebuilt all three Audi R18 e-tron quattros to turn them into race-spec. Instead of posting qualifying times during the remaining two sessions on Thursday evening, Audi instead used the testing time to further refine their set-ups ahead of the race.

“We concentrated solely on working for the race again today,” said Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. “I am convinced that we are well prepared and have three very good race cars, in which our drivers feel comfortable. This is important for Le Mans. Using the tires to their optimum will be an extremely crucial factor in the race. I think we are in a good position as far as this is concerned.”

The top Audi after qualifying was the #8, starting from fourth due to Loïc Duval‘s best time on Wednesday qualifying. On the third row will be the #7 and #9, which were qualified by André Lotterer and Filipe Albuquerque respectively.

The race will start on Saturday afternoon at 15:00 CEST (14:00 UK time).
