Double Winner Oliphant: “I Couldn’t Ask For More Really”

1 Mins read

Tom Oliphant says he “couldn’t ask for more” from his Knockhill weekend so far, having taken a pair of lights to flag victories to extend his Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup championship lead.

For the third consecutive meeting, Oliphant has converted pole position into victories in the opening two races to continue a stunning run of form in the championship that has given him a 28 point advantage at present.

“It’s gone really, really well. We put a lot of time and effort in on the simulator and it’s certainly paying off,” Oliphant told TCF’s Dan Mason.

“Both races were lights-to-flag wins, so I couldn’t ask for more really.”

The unique Knockhill circuit is a tricky one to master, but Oliphant and his Century Motorsport team seem to have got the edge on their rivals in Scotland this weekend.

“It’s a brilliant track – one of the most challenging, but also one of the most rewarding if you get it right,” he enthused. “It’s tricky when the grip levels aren’t great but really fun on new tyres.”

Oliphant is in a rich vein of form at the moment, having taken six wins in the last eight races now and ten consecutive podium finishes – with more consistent top three results the target as the season head towards its final three meetings.

“The start of the season; we got off to a bit of a slow start but since we’ve really hit a run of form,” Oliphant concluded.

“I just want to continue that form as much as possible. The championship is going to go down to the last race at Brands Hatch. It’s been tight and now it’s all to play for.”

Oliphant will start the final race of the Knockhill weekend from sixth on the reverse grid.
