Antonio Felix da Costa spoke to The Checkered Flag during last weekend’s World Series by Renault event at Silverstone as the Portuguese driver carried out demo duties for Red Bull Racing.
DTM and Formula E racer Felix da Costa admitted to enjoying himself on track during the demos, especially in the high-speed sections on board the Red Bull RB8 that he shared with Oliver Rowland.
“It was very good out there,” revealed Felix da Costa. “The car was very well balanced in high-speed corners and I was having a lot of fun through the high-speed section; a little too much understeer in slow speed corners but I guess its for safety reasons its like that, but I also have a lot of fun driving this track with an F1 car.
“We had the demo tyres too, and they aren’t the same grip levels, anyway it was good fun.”
Felix da Costa’s main focus in 2015 has been the DTM Series, and the Portuguese driver openly admits it has been a very fluctuating season, not just for himself but for most of the DTM field.
“The DTM Season has been a bit up and down but every driver in the DTM would say this,” said Felix da Costa. “But I’m having so much fun there, and especially racing for a manufacturer like BMW it gives me great pleasure.
“We came away with a win and a P2 already this year so it gives me great motivation and strength to keep going. We’re next at Oschersleben; I did well there last year, qualified third and looking forward to it.”
The Portuguese driver also revealed that he is still looking to make a return to the FIA Formula E championship for season two, having raced for the Amlin Aguri squad during the inaugural season, but was tight-lipped about just who he will be representing.
“We’re pushing to be back again,” said Felix da Costa. “There’s a bit of a political fight going on at the moment but if everything goes well we’ll be in a seat.”
