Jota Sport Stripped of Paul Ricard Win

1 Mins read

A drive time infringement has cost Jota Sport of a crucial race win in the European Le Mans Series race at Paul Ricard.

Following a stewards’ investigation it was determined that platinum driver Filipe Albuquerque, who drove the middle stint for the British LMP2 team, had breached his 90 minute maximum drive time allocation by 1m 57s.

A 45 second penalty has been imposed on the Jota Gibson 015S Nissan, meaning that Greaves Motorsport, which also runs a Gibson chassis, will receive the full 25 points for a race victory.

The #21 AF Racing BR01 Nissan officially moves up to second, which is the car’s best result of the season.

Jota Sport therefore moves down to third place overall, picking up 15 points plus the extra point gained for pole position.

The decision brings significant implications to the overall ELMS championship, as Jota Sport now has a slim one point advantage over Greaves Motorsport heading into the final round at Estoril.
