Scott Dixon Joins Chip Ganassi Racing for Petit Le Mans

1 Mins read

Four time IndyCar champion Scott Dixon will make an end of season sportscar appearance with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates at Petit Le Mans this October.

The 35 year old New Zealander will race the #01 Ford EcoBoost Riley DP with United Sportcar Championship title contenders Scott Pruett and Joey Hand.

Dixon, who won his fourth IndyCar title in emphatic style at Sonoma in August, is no stranger to Chip Ganassi’s sportscar division, having won the Daytona 24 Hours with the team in 2006 and 2015. His most recent performance at Road Atlanta’s Petit Le Mans event also came with Ganassi in 2014, and heralded a third place finish alongside Pruett and Memo Rojas.

“Petit Le Mans is always a very exciting race and Road Atlanta is such a challenging track to drive,” said Dixon. “The No. 01 has had some very strong run s recently so I’m hoping I can go out and help them compete for another win. I’m looking forward to working with Scott and Joey again, and the whole IMSA program to end the season on a high note and maybe even another championship.

Pruett and Hand’s recent victory at the Circuit of the Americas places the pair in an outside position to seal the overall crown, with 11 points separating them and championship leaders Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante.

The final round of the United Sportscar Championship will take place at Road Atlanta on October 3, using Petit Le Mans’ traditional 1,000 miles/10 hours format.
