Breen Leads The Way In Switzerland

After the opening three stages of the final round of the 2015 FIA European Rally Championship, the Rallye International du Valais, it is Peugeot Academy driver Craig Breen that leads the event heading into the overnight halt in his Peugeot 208 T16. The Irishman and co-driver Scott Martin won all three tests and lead the rally by 15.4 seconds.

Citroen DS3 RRC driver Oliver Burri overcame intercom problems to hold second after the opening leg of the event while Alexey Lukyanuk is just 7.5 seconds behind in third. Francois Delecour is fourth in the attention drawing Porsche 911 GT3. The Frenchman said the nature of the stages and the conditions are not suited to the car by the WRC veteran is impressing just 17.6 seconds off a podium spot.

Miroslav Jakes and Pascal Perroud are involved in a great battle for fifth and are separated by just 0.1 seconds. Emil Bergkvist has made a very impressive start on his R5 debut. The 21-year old Swede is driving a Peugeot 208 T16 run by Saintéloc Racing as a prize-drive for winning the ERC Junior title, and is a fantastic seventh overnight just one place ahead of Bruno Magalhães in an identical car.

Seven more stages await crews tomorrow as they the tackle the first full day of the 2015 Rallye International du Valais.
