Breeze Heads Supercup Friday Practice At Brands Hatch

1 Mins read

Carl Breeze headed his Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup title rival Tom Oliphant in Friday practice ahead of the final meeting of the season at Brands Hatch GP.

Breeze set a best time of 1m 29.920s in his HHC Motorsport G55 during the second session of the day, over four tenths of a second quicker than championship leader Oliphant, who needs to outscore his adversary by one point in tomorrow’s opening race to take the title with two races to spare.

Will Burns finished up third fastest, while a strong return to action for Michael Caine saw him just edge out Jamie Orton for the top four despite missing the last two meetings – 0.866s splitting the top five at the end of the day.

Tom Wrigley posted the sixth best time, the last driver within one second of top spot, with Ollie Jackson, Jordan Stilp and Will Moore next up, the latter now classified as a Pro on his second outing of the year.

Bradley Smith rounded out the top ten, his efforts this weekend aided by having a season-long braking problem solved in the run up to the meeting, with Callum Pointon and debutant Mike Robinson close behind.

In the AM class, Connaire Finn was the fastest with a best effort of 1m 34.219s, the Irishman linking up with HHC Motorsport for the weekend to help their efforts in wrestling the Teams Championship advantage from Century Motorsport.

Colin White was second quickest in class ahead of British GT regulars Steve Tandy and Ade Barwick, Fraser Robertson and Century trio Steve Fresle, Ruben Anakhasyan and Osamu Kawashima – Fresle and new team-mate Matthew Cowley being two of those to hit trouble through the day.

Full testing times can be found here.
