Joao Barbosa Leads Final Petit Le Mans Practice

1 Mins read

The fourth and final practice session for the Tudor United SportsCar Championship season-closing 2015 Petit Le Mans finished without incidents, and with the #5 Action Express Racing team on top.

Joao Barbosa set a lap time of 1:23.232 in the championship-defending Corvette DP, 0.394 seconds quicker than Scott Pruett‘s #01 Chip Ganassi Racing Riley DP. A surprise third position overall was claimed by Nick Tandy in the GT Le Mans class Porsche North America 911.

Meanwhile, Jack Hawksworth led the way in Prototype Challenge for RSR Racing, whilst Kuno Wittmer was out front for TRG-AMR in GT Daytona.

In the previous practice sessions, different teams have been out front each time, with results influenced by the varying weather conditions. Thursday’s first and second sessions were led by Oswaldo Negri Jr. and Joey Hand respectively, who set times in the 1:15 and 1:16s, but the rain came 15 minutes into the second session. Jordan Taylor set a considerably slower 1:29.369 during the third practice session, but the adverse weather conditions denied anyone the chance of improving upon that time.

Depending on the weather, qualifying is scheduled to take place today (Friday) from 15:20 to 16:50 local time (20:20 to 21:50 UK).
