Ginetta Launch New G57 Prototype For 2016

1 Mins read

Ginetta are developing a new prototype model for 2016, the 580bhp Ginetta G57 which will be eligible to compete in open sportscar championships.

Fresh from a successful first season running their Ginetta-Nissan LMP3’s in the European Le Mans Series, the Yorkshire marque are adding to their portfolio with the ‘cost-effective’ G57 prototype.

Powered by a Chevrolet LS3 engine with 580bhp, the Ginetta G57 will feature an unrestricted aerodynamic package and is being targeted at all levels of driver grade and experience.

The new prototype has already been accepted for competition in the VdeV Endurance Series and other open sportscar championships.

“European Le Mans Series provided the perfect platform to further introduce the Ginetta brand to the European marketplace, and we worked closely with the ACO to ensure both the car and the series was a success,” said Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson.

“As a business, we must now continue towards our goal of increasing export, which inevitably means creating a new, and significantly faster, car which is eligible for competition on a number of different global platforms.”

Ginetta’s first season with the LMP3 prototype saw their factory-run Team LNT cars finish in first and second places in both the Drivers and Teams Championships in the ELMS.

“We’ve had a great season with ELMS, but Team LNT had only ever planned to contest one full season,” added Ginetta Technical Director, Ewan Baldry.

“For 2016, we will continue to support our customers who remain within the series, but as a manufacturer, our attentions now turn to the Ginetta G57.”
