A new team will join the European Le Mans Series in 2016 with the intention of running cars in the LMP2 and LMP3 classes.
SO24! by Lombard Racing plans to enter a Ligier JS P2 and a Ligier JS P3 for a full season effort next year, with the additional goal of obtaining a guest entry for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.
The project has risen out of a recently formed partnership between Dominique Payen and Jean Lombard, two important figures in French national motorsport with ties to the ACO and the Montlhery Formula Ford driving school.
Three drivers have also been confirmed for 2016: Vincent Capillaire, who raced with Signatech Alpine in this year’s World Endurance Championship, will drive alongside 2011 Le Mans class winner Olivier Lombard in the LMP2 entry, while the first LMP3 seat will be filled by Thomas Dagoneau who has most recently competed in the VdeV Endurance Series.
Both cars will feature three-driver lineups, with the remaining drivers to be revealed at a later date.
