Gommendy Seals 2016 ELMS drive with Eurasia Motorsport

1 Mins read

French LMP2 driver Tristan Gommendy will join Eurasia Motorsport for its 2016 European Le Mans Series campaign.

The team will enter a newly purchased ORECA 05 with Gommendy partnering current drivers Pu Jun Jin and Nick de Bruijn for the six race season.

The 36 year old raced a Thiriet by TDS Racing ORECA 05 in four of the five rounds of this year’s European Le Mans Series, winning at Imola and finishing on the podium at Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring.

“We feel with Tristan on board we have a very strong driver line up which will give us a chance of being competitive in the European Le Mans Series,” said Eurasia Motorsport team principal Mark Goddard.

“Tristan is a platinum driver for a good reason, he has a wealth of experience in Formula cars having raced in F3, World Series, GP2, Superleague and Champ Cars plus he has proven to be one of the fastest LMP2 drivers out there.”

“He stepped in for us at the Fuji round of Asian Le Mas and did a fantastic job which made the decision to race together in 2016 very easy. He is also a winner of the Macau GP and anyone who can do that has to be more than just really good”.

Gommendy is expected to take part in the final two rounds of the 2015-16 Asian Le Mans Series, which concludes in January. His first ELMS race with Eurasia Motorsport will be the 4 Hours of Silverstone on April 16, a race that he won in 2014 with Thiriet by TDS.
