Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli has been announced as the official supplier for 2016 ERC Junior Rally Championship. The European Rally Championship promoter Eurosport Events announced that the Italian company had signed a two year deal to exclusively provide tyres for next year’s ERC Junior competitors.
The 2016 ERC Junior Rally Championship will be held over six rounds within the main ERC series with three of the rounds being on asphalt and three on gravel. Pirelli will use its P Zero RK tyre for the asphalt rounds and the Scorpion K range for the gravel rounds.
“Helping young drivers reach the top has always been a key objective for Pirelli, as we have shown many times in the past with our support of different junior series in rallying, as well as the Pirelli Star driver programme.” said Pirelli Product Manager Terenzio Testoni.
“Concluding this important agreement to supply the FIA ERC Junior Championship – which gives young drivers valuable media exposure as well as some fantastic rallies – is now the latest chapter in this story.”
The 2016 ERC Junior Rally Championship starts in Latvia in the snow and gravel forests on Rally Liepaja in Febuary and concludes on the tarmac stages of the Barum Czech Rally Zlín in the Czech Republic.
