DeltaWing to Contest Full 2016 Season

1 Mins read

Panoz DeltaWing Racing has been confirmed as a full-season entry for the 2016 WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.

The Braselton, GA. based outfit will contest all 12 rounds of the series, with Katherine Legge and Andy Meyrick as regular drivers.

Prototype Challenge racer Sean Rayhall will join the team for the four endurance rounds at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen and Road Atlanta.

“I believe all of us here at Panoz DeltaWing Racing are really looking forward to the 2016 season, especially getting back to Daytona for both the Roar and the 24,” said team boss Tim Keene, “We made good progress last year after coming to grips with some of the issues that plagued us during the first half of the season. We had a really good test in Daytona back in November and believe we have the pace needed to run up front.”

Last season the two litre Elan-powered DeltaWing competed in all but one round of the United Sportscar Championship, with Legge and Memo Rojas finishing eighth in the drivers’ standings.

“I believe this will be a standout season for Panoz DeltaWing Racing,” said Legge. “The team have worked so hard and I think we will be able to show what we are capable of. We are all focused on building from the impressive speed we showed at the November Daytona test.”

“I’m extremely excited to sign on with Panoz DeltaWing Racing for the year,” added team debutant Rayhall. “The team were excellent when I tested with them back in November and I think it will be a great fit! I’m very grateful for the opportunity Dr Panoz has given me.”

Panoz DeltaWing Racing will begin its 2016 season at the Daytona Roar Before the 24 on January 8-10. The team has confirmed that it will sport a new livery in tribute to Panoz’ LMP1 Roadster S14 throughout the 2016 season.
