Lamborghini set for Daytona front row start on Huracán GT3 début

1 Mins read

Team Konrad Motorsport driver Marc Basseng has given the Lamorghini Huracán GT3 a near perfect start on its début at the upcoming  24 Hours at Daytona as he secured a front row start in the GTD Class.

“We’re quite happy with the result: P2, first row, is a good position for the 24 hours,” Basseng said.

“The mechanics did an awesome job to prepare the car. The conditions are over the limit, so much aquaplaning, but I found a good lap and did a quite good lap time. I’m confident for the race, the driver lineup is good and reliable and also the team has demonstrated to be well prepared for a tough race like this.”

There will be two Team Konrad Motorsport Huracán GT3’s on track with Basseng joined by owner Franz Konrad (class winner at 1998 Daytona 24), Rolf Ineichen, Lance Willsey and Fabio Babini; in the second car Emanuele Busnelli and Jim Michaelian will share driving duties as they start from nineteenth place.

Three other Huracán GTDs join Konrad Motorsport this weekend with O’Gara Motorsport’s #11 Lamborghini, qualified by Townsend Bell starting ninth and Bryce Miller taking the #48 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracán to seventeenth place.

The #16 Change Racing Lamborghini missed qualifying due to an accident in the first practice session of the day but the team are still expected to take part in the race on Saturday.
