Magnussen – “Today was less than ideal in a number of areas”

1 Mins read

Jan Magnussen is hoping for a change in luck after suffering a tough qualifying day behind the wheel of the #3 Corvette Racing GTLM car at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

“Today was less than ideal in a number of areas,” Magnussen said.

“The conditions have been far from perfect but we had a really good Corvette. We also had a problem with the windshield fogging, which meant I couldn’t go when the track got better. It’s a long race, and we have a really good record of success in the endurance events. We will be fine.”

With Ryan Briscoe heading off to the Ford GT programme, Magnussen will be joined by Antonio Garcia and Mike Rockenfeller while Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner will see Marcel Fassler join them in the #4 car.

Rockenfeller is no stranger to the team having driven for Corvette Racing back in 2009.

At the Roar before the 24 test at Daytona the #3 car finished second fastest in the Sunday morning session before Magnussen topped the times in the final test session.

The Magnussen/Garcia/Rockenfeller Corvette will start 9th in class when the green flag drops at 2:40pm (local time) on Saturday.
