North West 200: Seeley and Wilson join Gearlink Kawasaki

North West 200 - Gearlink Kawasaki

Gearlink Kawasaki have confirmed that Alastair Seeley and Ben Wilson will ride for the team in the Supersport class at this year’s North West 200.

The news means that pair will be re-united after lining up together for the team back at the 2013 event Рwhere Seeley would win in the Supersport and Superstock races.

The Northern Irishman has an impressive record at the Irish road racing event with 15 race wins to his name – meaning that he holds the joint-record with the late Robert Dunlop.

The 36-year-old took victory in both Supersport events in 2015, along with a victory in the Superbike race.

Looking ahead to this year’s event, Seeley said: ” I’m very happy to be riding for the family team of Michael and Norma at Gearlink Kawasaki again, plus back working with my former crew chief Arron Phillips.

“I hope we can start where we left off at the NW200 in 2013, where I won with them. As the bike model hasn’t changed for a number of years, hopefully I can just dial in my previous settings and be good to go from the start.”

On the other side of the garage, Wilson is going into his second NW200 and he is looking to build on the experience in gained in 2015.

Wilson said: “I am looking forward to making my return to the NW200 this year. Last year was a learning year and I really enjoyed the experience that I got here.

“I know the Gearlink Kawasaki team so well and I know that we can achieve some really strong results there. I secured an 11th and 9th last year and will be pushing hard to improve on those results this year and I thank Michael and Norma for the opportunity.”

The team’s NW200 announcement comes just a couple of days after they confirmed that Italian Vittorio Iannuzzo will ride for them in the MCE British Superbike Championship.

Team owner, Michael de Bidaph added: “It is really exciting for the team to have secured such a strong line-up to compete at the NW200 this year with Alastair and Ben.

“Alastair rode our Supersport bike there in 2013 but due to unfortunate circumstances, Norma and I were unable to attend, so it will be great to be fully involved this year. It was Ben’s first time there last year so now that he knows his way around I am sure he will also be very competitive. “

The NW200 takes place between Sunday, May 8 and Saturday, May 14.
