Team HARD, possibly one of the hardest working teams in the paddock, is to enter yet another championship for 2016 as it confirms a two-car Ginetta GT4 entry into the British GT Championship.
The team, headed by team boss Tony Gilham, is to race two Ginetta G55 GT4 models in a championship seeing a major increase in interest in the class.
Already regulars in the paddock thanks to its VW Racing Cup efforts, Team HARD have yet to announce their driver line-ups but confirmed they will be a mix of youth and experience to help bring on the next generation of GT racers.
Gilham said: “We’ve been on the package for some time and have seen GT4’s recent growth up close for ourselves, so it was an obvious choice. GT3 remains the ultimate ambition but we’re not taking the series lightly and see GT4 as a logical and necessary step towards it.
“We have every intention of hitting the ground running and have invested heavily as a result. I know everyone says it but we’re here to win and the driver strength reflects that. We’ll hopefully be announcing our drivers in the coming weeks but I can tell you that we have some very rapid guys with the necessary experience to shake up the established order.”
It’s been a busy time for the team, which announced Chris Smiley would race for them in the BTCC, and noted that combined with their British GT entry they would remain at the forefront of British motorsport.
Gilham added: “We see British GT and BTCC as the two highest echelons of UK motorsport, so adding the former was essential for completing our talent ladder. We’re all about investing in the future and British GT4 provides that.”
