Barwell to race third Lamborghini in select British GT races

1 Mins read

Barwell Motorsport will run a third Lamborghini Huracan in selected British GT Championship races in 2016 for Mark Poole and Richard Abra.

The team, which is already running a car for Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen as well as Liam Griffin, Fabio Babini and Alexander Sims, will utilise the third car at the Silverstone 500 and the two-hour race at Spa Francorchamps.

The distinctive black, grey and red Lamborghini GT3 will race full-time in the Blancpain Endurance Series with Poole and Abra – joined by Joe Osborne for the BES races – but the two British GT races, especially the Belgian round two weeks before the Total 24 Hours of Spa, will be good practice for the pair.

For Poole, who is the ‘Am’ rated driver in the pairing, this will be his return to racing after a season away and in partnering with Barwell he is reigniting a partnership stretching back to 2013 where he and Abra competed for Barwell in an Aston Martin V12 Vantage.

It will also be a significant milestone for British GT as well, the Silverstone 500 race will mark the first time in eight seasons that three Lamborghinis have raced at the same time. The last time that happened was at the same race in 2008.
