Team HARD has announced its first pairing for its two car British GT Championship campaign, as Jordan Stilp and William Phillips get behind the wheel of the team’s first Ginetta G55 GT4.
The pairing, who have been good friends for a number of years, will be relatively inexperienced in what will be a highly competitively GT4 class with neither driver having any GT experience.
Indeed Stilp’s two outings in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup in 2015 is the only experience either of the pair have of driving the Ginetta G55.
However, both are strong racers – Stilp was a regular podium finisher in the Clio Cup and Phillips scored good results in the Mini Challenge – so they are aiming for podiums this year.
Stilp said: “I’m really looking forward to this year working with Tony Gillham and Team HARD in what will be an exciting championship in British GT.
“In 2015 I had the opportunity to do the last two rounds of the BTCC Ginetta support series, which was fantastic for me as I managed to pull out a P2 and fastest lap on my first outing. I am really looking forward to seeing what we can bring to the table in terms of podiums; that’s what I will be aiming for all the way.”
For Phillips, he hopes the friendship he has with Stilp will allow them to hit the ground running in April: “I’m looking forward to a challenging season ahead. There’s a lot to learn with a new car and a new team, but I’m massively excited to be working alongside Tony Gilham and Team HARD. To have a team mate I’ve known my whole life is also a massive advantage. We may be a new team entering the British GT but we’re going straight for the title this year. I’d like to thank my sponsors Magic Plastic for giving me this opportunity.”
The second driver pairing for Team HARD will be announced in the near future.
