Two rapid GT racers, Martin Plowman and Craig Dolby, will pair up for an assault on the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup in the Garage 59 McLaren 650S GT3.
The two 28-year-olds have raced together in the past – mainly in a Nissan GT-R GT3 for Always Evolving Racing and MRS GT in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup last year.
While they have raced together before, they’re both very experienced in their own right, Dolby is a former Formula Renault champion and had good experience in single seaters before moving to GTs in 2012 and becoming a regular front runner.
Plowman is arguably one of the most experienced drivers of his generation, winning both the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship in the LMP2 category. He’s also regularly competed in IndyCar and the American Le Mans Series amongst others.
Bas Leinders, best known for his exploits at MarcVDS Racing, is the team manager at Garage 59, he said: “We tested Martin and Craig at the beginning of the year and it was clear from the outset their pace was very good. They are both very professional racers which is important when selecting drivers for the Blancpain GT Series; the level of racing is so competitive. We are very confident that we have the right team, the right car and now the right drivers with all four confirmed to have a good season this year.”
