Green Delighted With Maiden Supercup Podium

1 Mins read

Ben Green says his maiden Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup podium finish at Donington Park has filled him with confidence heading into the remainder of the season.

In only his sixth race in the championship, Green impressively climbed through from sixth on the grid to take his breakthrough podium finish in third position.

Green had previously shown flashes of his potential in both qualifying sessions so far this campaign, finishing sixth at Brands Hatch and then a hugely impressive third at Donington.

The races hadn’t gone in his favour however, with a double retirement at Brands Hatch and a mistake in the Donington opener that lost him ground whilst running third.

Green says that following those disappointments, the podium feels extra special: “I’m so happy with my performance in that race, and the weekend as a whole” he reflected.

“I was working hard over the pre-season on my pace and we’ve made some real steps forward since the season has begun.

“We’ve been a bit unlucky in the races so far this year, so it feels so fantastic to be able to bring it home on the podium.”

Green stepped up to the Supercup this season with just one year of Ginetta Junior racing under his belt, running with his family team SuperGreen Racing.

The 18 year old is full of praise for their work in the series so far, and hopes they can continue battling at the front next time out at Oulton Park (07/08 June).

“The SuperGreen team did a fantastic job this weekend after the tough start at Brands Hatch, and a huge thanks to all of them and my sponsors, as without them I wouldn’t be racing,” he concluded.

“We can’t wait to take this momentum forwards throughout the rest of the year, and the result gives me so much confidence heading into Oulton Park. I’m really, really excited about the races coming up.”
