Porsche North America announce Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR eligibility

1 Mins read

Porsche North America have announced that the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR will be eligible for competition in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class competition and in IMSA’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge GS class after Manthey-Racing presented the car at the 2016 Total 24 hours of Spa.

Based on the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport racecar, Manthey-Racing have developed an upgrade kit which qualifies the car as an SRO-homologised GT4 racing car.

The upgrade includes carbon fibre doors, carbon fibre front bonnet, a polycarbonate windscreen and an optional lightweight battery, which reduces the vehicle weight by around 40kg (88 pounds). A two-way adjustable suspension kit and an adjustable sway bar provide further improvements along with a larger rear wing.

“We welcome the updated Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport package into our offerings for motorsport customers in North America.” said Jens Walther, president/CEO, Porsche Motorsport North America.

“Customer racing is the structure on which all sports car racing is built, and as the GT3 and ACO classes become more manufacturer-oriented, the GT4 category provides a more attainable entry point to compete in sports car racing.”
