United Autosports to host two-day LMP3 test

1 Mins read

United Autosports will host a two day test session for LMP3 customer teams at Snetterton, ahead of the awaited debut of the Protoype Cup series.

The test will take place on September 7-8 at the Norfolk circuit, which holds the inaugural round of the new championship on October 8-9.

Another test will be held on October 3-4 as a final chance to prepare for the opening weekend.

Entry forms for next week’s test are now available to prospective teams on the Prototype Cup website.

United Autosports is the UK agent for French manufacturer Onroak Automotive, which builds the Ligier JSP3 chassis used in LMP3.

The Prototype Cup, run by GT Cup promoter Bute Motorsport, will be the national arena for LMP3 and CN competition. It follows the example set by the European Le Mans Series, which introduced LMP3 to the international sportscar pyramid in 2015.

Each Prototype Cup weekend will feature two 60 minute races. The Snetterton meeting will be the first, followed by planned visits to Silverstone, Donington Park, Spa-Francorchamps and Brands Hatch.

While a full entry list is yet to be confirmed, United Autsports is planning to enter three Ligier JSP3s at the opening round. Driver announcements will be made in the coming weeks.

“Once we became UK agents for Onroak Automotive, we wanted to give our LMP3 and CN customers the opportunity to test somewhere with our support, so we decided to book three different tests at Snetterton in the lead up to the Prototype Cup, I’m pleased we have confirmed our six drivers for the race in October – we’ve got some great drivers joining us,” said United Autosports team owner and managing director Richard Dean.

“We have been working closely with Bute Motorsport on the launch of the Prototype Cup and we are hoping that everyone will get behind this new series and give it the support it deserves.”
