Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup championship leader Tom Wrigley has kicked off the Rockingham weekend in perfect fashion with pole position in qualifying.

Improving on his best time in Friday practice by nearly half a second, Wrigley posted a best effort of 1m 21.883s in the Corby sunshine to storm to the top of the timesheets.

After opting to park his Rob Boston Racing G55 with nearly ten minutes of the session remaining, Wrigley then had to watch on from the pitwall as Jamie Orton started eating into his advantage.

Orton improved by over four tenths of a second, but could not break Wrigley’s stranglehold on the session, finishing up 0.170s shy of the top spot on his return to the grid.

An impressive performance from Callum Pointon saw him secure a seasons best third on the grid with Total Control Racing, albeit over six tenths of a second off the poleman.

Pointon just edged out Will Burns for third, a mere 0.024s splitting the two at the chequered flag, while the former’s team-mate Mark Davies was three tenths further back.

Tom Hibbert, Carl Boardley and Ben Green rounded out the top eight, while Colin White took AM class pole in ninth overall, finishing up half a second clear of Fraser Robertson.

Full qualifying results can be found here.
