Ginetta G57 Opportunity For Supercup Star Burns

1 Mins read

Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup title contender Will Burns will race a Ginetta G57 prototype for the first time next weekend (8/9 October) in the V de V Championship.

The penultimate round of the 2016 V de V campaign will see Burns tackle a four hour endurance race around the world-famous Magny Cours circuit in France.

Burns will share a CWS Racing G57 with fellow Supercup racer Colin White, who currently lies third in the PFV class standings behind Lawrence Tomlinson and Michael Simpson.

The opportunity will see Burns race in Europe for the first time since winning all three races during a Ginetta GT5 Challenge outing at Spa-Francorchamps in 2013.

Burns’ focus is currently firmly on the Supercup season finale this weekend though, with the Douglas Motorsport ace heading into the meeting 24 points adrift of Tom Wrigley.

“I am incredibly excited to join Colin White in the G57 next weekend,” said the Weston-Super-Mare racer.

“He’s been great to race with in the Supercup this year and although my first experience of the prototype was only last weekend, I’m confident we will be a strong pairing and can challenge for some silverware.”

Up to six G57’s could compete in France next weekend, with White’s usual co-pilot Charlie Robertson instead sharing a car with his Asian Le Mans Series Sprint Cup team-mate Ate De Jong.

They will be in one of three Simpson Motorsport-run cars, with Tomlinson and Simpson in another, while Remy Dogoffroy and Jordan Sanders will share the final one.

Class winners last time out at Mugello, Race Performance, are looking to return with current BTCC racer Ollie Jackson, while Nova Race plan to enter a pair of cars.
