Rory Butcher joins Beechdean for British GT #DoningtonDecider

1 Mins read

Rapid GT racer Rory Butcher will make his return to the British GT Championship at the final round of the championship at Donington Park behind the wheel of a Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

Butcher, who took two wins last season for Motorbase Performance, will partner Andrew Howard in the distinctive blue and white machine which is also making its British GT return after sustaining significant damage in a first lap crash at Spa-Francorchamps in early July.

The reason Butcher is racing with Howard at Donington because Ross Gunn, who has raced in the GT3 class for the majority of the season, is partnering Jack Bartholomew in the GT4 Beechdean Aston Martin as Bartholomew looks to claim the GT4 title.

In Bucther though, the team have a more than capable replacement for young Gunn as the Scot has shown just this season how quick he is after winning the latest round of the European Le Mans Series at Paul Ricard. He himself is looking forward to Donington: “Having spent most of the year racing against Andrew in ELMS. I am looking forward to being on the same team as him for a change. We will be looking for a great result at the last round of British GT”

For Howard, partnering with Butcher is keeping up a pattern of rapid Scottish co-drivers that started with Jonny Adam: “It is amazing how many great drivers Scotland has produced and I am lucky to be pairing with another quick one.”

The #DoningtonDecider takes place next weekend, September 10&11.
