Porsche Carrera Cup GB stalwarts In2Racing have confirmed a campaign in British GT for 2017. Nick Dudfield’s team will operate two McLaren 570S machines in the burgeoning GT4 class.
The line-up for the first of these entries has already been confirmed. Former British Touring Car Championship contender Gareth Howell will bring a wealth of experience to the new project, as he has worked for the Woking marque as an official development driver.
Howell is paired with Richard Marsh in the Pro-Am line-up. “Me and Richard had idly discussed racing together again [the pair last competed together in 2000] but it wasn’t until he tested the car and spoke with In2Racing that the opportunity to actually do something became more realistic,” Howell commented.
Marsh added, “The McLaren looks like the car to have this year and it’s also an iconic brand, so this is an ideal opportunity for me to go racing properly again.”
Whilst the second In2Racing entry already features a so-far unnamed contender with recent front-running experience in British GT, the second seat in this car is currently still available and any prospective entrants are encouraged to contact the team.
Authors comment: “Nick Dudfield’s team already look set to make more than a little splash in the British GT arena in 2017. Two former British Touring Car Championship contenders, one of whom has since gone on to be an official McLaren development driver, in arguably the strongest GT4 machine currently available somewhat screams championship challenge.
“The line-up for the second car remains a mystery thus far, although “driver with recent front-running experience in British GT” suggests more than a little potential. Any drivers contemplating a GT campaign this season would probably struggle to find a better opportunity than that offered by the one remaining seat in In2Racing’s McLaren GT4s.”
