Mitchell Back For 2017 Supercup Campaign With Laser Tools Racing

1 Mins read

Former Ginetta Junior champion Jack Mitchell will return to the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup full-time this year with a new team to the series, Laser Tools Racing.

Mitchell competed in the final two weekends of the 2016 Supercup campaign with Century Motorsport, impressively securing four top five finishes in five races at Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

In particular, Mitchell would stand out in the season finale at Brands as he qualified second on the grid, before taking a maiden podium finish in the opening race.

The 18 year old’s Supercup entry comes after it was previously announced he would be returning to the British GT Championship this year, having made his series bow last season.

Mitchell, who has already previously contested the Renault UK Clio Cup, is set to compete in a Macmillan Racing Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 alongside James Littlejohn.

There are two clashes between the calendars however, with the Donington Park and Croft Supercup rounds clashing with the British GT outings at Oulton Park and Silverstone respectively.

Laser Tools Racing will compete in the Supercup alongside their existing BTCC commitments, as they once again run a Mercedes A Class for Aiden Moffat.

Mitchell said: ‘I’m delighted to be back behind the wheel of the Ginetta G55 GT4 car. With the backing and resource of Laser Tools Racing I’m looking forward to a great season of racing. The Laser Tools Racing family has made me very welcome and this pre-season testing has been very positive.”

Team principal Bob Moffat commented: “Jack and Aiden have been mates for many years and the pair showed that they work together very well at the recent Dubai 24 Hour race. It will be great to see another Laser Tool Racing liveried car out on the track.”
