FIA European Rally Championship rally winner Alexey Lukyanuk has reportedly been involved in a testing crash in Russia.

He suffered non-life threatening injuries (broken leg) after being flown to hospital in St Petersburg following the accident Russia’s Pskov region.

While it is not known exactly what happened, it is reported that the accident involved two cars at a testing venue; Nikita Gergel and Vjacheslav Kucherov were injured, whilst sadly, Alexey Ljaduhin, who was co-driving one of the cars, died. Lukyanuk’s regular co-driver, Alexey Arnautov, was not involved in the incident.

Lukyanuk took victory earlier this month at the Rally Islas Canarias and had been expected to be a front runner at next month’s SEAJETS Acropolis Rally, his status for this rally is unknown at this early stage.
