Tolman Motorsport Set to Battle at Brands for GT4 Pro/Am Title Lead

Tolman Motorsport‘s David Pattison and Joe Osborne will be looking to pile the pressure on the Optimum Motorsport McLaren 570S of Graham Johnson and Mike Robinson in the GT4 Pro/Am title fight heading into the penultimate round at Brands Hatch.

Maximum points in race two of the international double-header at Spa-Francorchamps saw Pattison and Osborne narrow Johnson and Robinson’s Pro/Am lead down to only 29 points with two rounds remaining.

A late puncture whilst leading in race one agonisingly denied Tolman a perfect Belgium weekend, but an impressive second-place finish – first of the eligible GT4 points-scorers – in the final event capped a positive weekend for the team.

Crucially, Pattison and Osborne whittled down Johnson and Robinson’s championship lead by nine points, leaping ahead of the #72 Track-Club pairing of Adam Balon and Adam Mackay in the Pro/Am standings in the process.

After an impressive Spa showing, boss Chris Tolman lauded his squad’s efforts, and is confident the team are moving in the right direction as the series makes its return to Britain.

“Being the fastest McLaren shows that we are pushing and it’s a great achievement for the team,” Tolman commented.

Tolman will be hoping to again benefit from the blazing qualifying speed of Osborne at Brands Hatch, the 28-year-old having claimed top spot on the grid at both Snetterton and Spa in recent rounds.

A strong result at the Kent circuit could well set up a tense title duel for the final round at Donington Park in September, as Tolman continue their pursuit for a first British GT title in their third season of competition.
