Risi Competizione will be making a welcome return to America when the Ferrari team compete at the upcoming Michelin GT Challenge race at VIRginia International Raceway, August 25-27 along with confirming two other races.

Giuseppe Risi confirmed, “We will back at VIRginia International Race with our #62 Risi Competizione 488 Ferrari with Giancarlo Fisichella and Toni Vilander. We have taken a hiatus since the 24 Hours of Le Mans but now plan to complete the season at VIR, Laguna Seca and the season finale at Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.”

The team have been absent from the last four IMSA GTLM races of this season, missing out on Watkins Glen, Mosport, Lime Rock Park and Road America after taking some time to consolidate resources and assess future racing programmes.

After starting the season strong with a third place at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring, the next three races at Long Beach, Circuit of the Americas and Le Mans saw extensive damage to their Ferrari 488 GTLM.

“I’m very glad to be returning to IMSA competition with Risi Competizione in the U.S.” said Toni Vilander. “Although both Giancarlo [Fisichella] and I have been continuing to race internationally, it’s not the same as racing in the US and with Giuseppe and the guys at the Risi Competizione team. It’s a special team and we are glad to be back.”
