It was a maiden British GT Championship win for Jetstream Motorsport at the weekend, as they conquered the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. It would be a home win for Pro driver Maxime Martin, as he and Graham Davidson took the honours.

A chaotic race for many of the regular front-runners gave Jetstream the opportunity to strike, as long-time race leader Flick Haigh spun at turn five while leading. Davidson, who had been in the car for the opening half of the race, had dropped three positions, but passed Ian Loggie and Jordan Witt before the pitstops, ensuring he was soon at the head of the race.

Meanwhile a stop/go penalty for rivaling the #30 Ram Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 guaranteed the Jetstream Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 the lead as the pitstops neared.

With Martin in the car, the man from Brussels simply had to maintain his advantage, pulling out a seven second gap to Ryan Ratcliffe‘s Team Parker Racing car after the second safety car.

“It’s amazing to get this first British GT win under our belts and the fact it has happened at Spa, Maxime’s home circuit, makes it sweeter,” said Davidson.

“Jetstream Motorsport has certainly had a turn in fortunes this weekend, after a few missed opportunities, but we’ve worked hard, done everything right and we know we’re capable of carrying this form through to the remaining rounds at Brands Hatch and Donington.”

The team had struggled to set the car up in practice, failing to finish inside the top six for both sessions, though the weekend eventually came to the team on Saturday, as the pair put the car second in qualifying.

“While I really wanted to take the victory here at Spa, I didn’t think we had a race-winning car at the start of the race, having struggled to find a good compromise in free practice and qualifying. I thought the most we could hope for was a third or fourth place and so we decided to take a sensible approach, and that really worked for us in what was a dramatic race. It was amazing to watch our car take the chequered flag in first place and it leaves me wanting more.”

Jetstream now lie sixth in the GT3 teams and drivers standings.
