Jack McCarthy and Bradley Burns fought tooth and nail in pursuit of Renault UK Clio Cup pole position at Rockingham with McCarthy taking pole in race one and Burns taking it for race two.
Whilst they both enjoy pole position in their respective races, they will both line up second on the grid when they are not heading the field.
Rounding off a perfect day for Team Pyro, Max Coates was the best of the championship leading runners as he qualified in third for both races making it a Pyro 1-2-3 for each race.
Right behind Coates in race one is title rival James Dorlin in fourth who will be trying his best to get past the championship leader at the start. Then in fifth is Paul Rivett setting up the possibility of an exciting first race for the title contenders.
Sixth went the way of Daniel Rowbottom who will no doubt be picking up the pieces if there are fireworks ahead of him.
The top ten for race one rounded out with James Colburn in seventh, Michael Epps in eighth, Dan Zelos in ninth and in only his second senior Clio Cup weekend. Jack Young in tenth.
Behind the Pyro trio in race two sees Rowbottom take a competitive fourth ahead of a championship squabble of Rivett in fifth and Dorlin in sixth.
Positions seventh through tenth remain the same as in the first race with Colburn, Epps, Zelos and Young.
A fascinating qualifying should hopefully translate to fascinating racing today and tomorrow. Hopefully this title battle takes an incredible twist.
