GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Hurican #63 has been given a 30-second penalty for a belt infringement. They thus lose their Nurburgring race one win, dropping them to thirteenth.

The incident ocurred at the mid-race pitstop, when Mirko Bortolotti handed the car over to Christian Engelhart. An error while strapping in meant that Engelhart raced with his frontal head restraint over the shoulder straps of his harness.

This indiscression was in breach of Article 120 concerning a drivers HANS device. Championship leaders Belgian Audi Club Team WRT inherit the win, moving Christopher Mies and Alex Riberas now nine points clear of the #88 AKKA ASP Mercedes, who is also promoted to fourth.

GRT not only lose the win, but now the chance of taking the drivers championship. They had been just 11 points adrift of the #1 WRT Audi as a result of their third win, but now drop to fourth in the standings with the final Sprint Cup race tomorrow.

In the Silver Cup, race winner Luca Stolz was penalised 30 seconds for taking both hands off the wheel in the fast lane when exiting the pits, handing the win to the #3 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT crew. The result soils what could have been a perfect day for Stolz, whose #6 Black Falcon will start on pole for tomorrow’s season finale after a stunning lap in qualifying.
