The 2019 Calendars for both the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercars and the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 has been released today and following a similar decision made by the FIA World Rallycross Championship, there is also a change to the lineup of events next year.

For the past three years, Euro RX has been a five event series for three different classes that has played a support role to World RX on different weekends at some of the most iconic rallycross circuits.

The 2019 FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercars Calendar:

Euro RX of Great Britain: Silverstone – 25/26 May
Euro RX of Norway: Hell – 15/16 June
Euro RX of Sweden: Höljes – 6/7 July
Euro RX of Germany: Buxtehude – 17/18 August
Euro RX of France: Lohéac – 31 August/1 September
Euro RX of Latvia: Riga – 14/15 September

For 2019, the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Supercars moves to a six event series, which begins at Silverstone as part of the second running of the Speedmachine Festival. This is a break from recent seasons when the Euro RX season has begun in Spain

After competing at both Holjes in Sweden and Hell in Norway, Euro RX will then move onto the Estering in Buxtehude, Germany which will be a weekend for both Supercars and Surper1600 only. This is a decision made by the circuit officials as Estering Chairman Andreas Steffen explains further.

“We thought about it very carefully after this year we had a fantastic event with World RX. However the development of World RX is marked with questions and with The economic risk under current signs it is simply too high for a club.”

“We can’t organise a round for World RX and Euro RX together as there is simply not enough space at the Estering. Therefore we decided to host a single European Championship Event only with a broad and balanced but very powerful field of participants. We assume that we will offer an exciting event with great Motorsport for the spectators. And we are quite sure that we will have a bigger number of drivers.”

The Supercars will then head on to their normal last two rounds at Loheac in France and the finale at Riga in Latvia.

The 2019 FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 Calendar:

Euro RX of Spain – Barcelona – 27/28 April
Euro RX of Belgium – Spa-Francorchamps – 11/12 May
Euro RX of Sweden: Höljes – 6/7 July
Euro RX of Germany: Buxtehude – 17/18 August
Euro RX of France: Lohéac – 31 August/1 September
Euro RX of Latvia: Riga – 14/15 September

The FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 has a slightly different calendar for next season. Super1600 will start the year in Spain at the Barcelona Grand Prix circuit supporting World RX before moving on to taking part at the new circuit being built at Spa-Francorchamps.

The championship will then see out the year alongside the Euro RX Supercars in Sweden, Germany, France and Lativa.

With recent seasons seeing a capacity grid of between twenty-five to thirty entries per round in both championships, 2019 is once again expected to see another example of this.

The recent announcement of a move to fully Electric Supercars for World RX and also the news of several teams withdrawing from World RX to prepare for the new series which launches in 2021. This now leaves Euro RX as the top class of entertainment next year in many Rallycross fans opinions.
