The FIA has confirmed that Sophia Flörsch is conscious and has been transferred to hospital following her terrifying crash that red flagged the Macau Grand Prix for an hour.
Flörsch was launched into the air and over the crash barriers after striking Sho Tsuboi at Lisboa Bend on lap 4, after losing her wheels in a crash further up the straight before the tight corner.
Her car went through the fencing and struck a photographer’s bunker.
A statement released, said that both Flörsch and Tsuboi were conscious and had been taken to hospital.
Three further individuals – two photographers and one marshal – who were also involved in the accident were also transferred to hospital.
Racing was resumed following a delay of more than one hour to attend to the individuals involved as well as repair the damaged fencing.
Van Amersfoort Racing, have since announced that Flörsch has suffered a suspected spinal fracture after early evaluation by the Chief Medical Officer at the circuit.
No update as of yet is available regarding Tsuboi or the others involved in the crash.
