Mahindra Racing will be fielding Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy driver Katherine Legge to test alongside veteran Formula E driver Jerome d’ Ambrosio for the post Riyadh ePrix test on Sunday 16 December 2018 at Ad Diriyah.

This will be the first in-season test of the 2018-19 ABB FIA Formula E Championship, thus making it a crucial chance for the team to get a hold on their Gen2 machinery at an early stage of the season.

Legge has enjoyed a wealth of racing experience during her career, clocking up multiple podium finishes in a range of motorsport disciplines, such as sportscars, DTM series and a range of single-seater series such as the inaugural season of the Formula E series with Amlin Aguri. However, the British racer was dropped after two racers in favour of Salvador Duran.

With the British racer taking part in the feeder series to the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy, this will be a chance for her to prove her worth with one of the most established outfits on the grid which should give her a chance to make the step up to the all-electric racing series next season.

This is part of a wider scheme by the promoter for more female involvement in the championship, with seven female racers taking part in the first Formula E test of the season.

Legge is excited to be getting behind the wheel of a Formula E race car for the first time, saying: “I’ve known Dilbagh since the early days of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, so it was an honour to be asked to drive with Mahindra Racing for the first in-season test of Season 5.

“Formula E has come such a long way in a very short space of time – the advanced technology in the Generation 2 cars is astounding.

“Naturally as a driver you want to join the team with the best package and for me that’s Mahindra Racing. I want to provide them with feedback for future development which means they can achieve the best possible result at every race.”

Dilbagh Gil is happy to give Legge the opportunity to prove herself in the championship once again, adding: “First and foremost we are delighted that Katherine will join Mahindra Racing for the first in-season test.

“Katherine is not only one of the best drivers out there, but she is also one of the most qualified in my opinion. She has achieved the results she has because she maintains her professionalism and commitment to the sport.

“The local promoter of the SAUDIA Ad Diriyah E-Prix has worked closely with the teams to encourage more female participation, and Mahindra Racing is thrilled to be able to field one of the strongest female drivers in the sport in this test.

“Working alongside Jerome, we have the perfect blend of Formula E knowledge and racing experience to support our development throughout Season 5.”
