TF Sport have announced an one off return to the GT3 class for the Intelligent Money British GT season finale, the Silverstone 500.

The reigning GT3 champions, who were forced to withdraw their planned two-car title attack earlier this season due to issues surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, will enter an Aston Martin Vantage for reigning GT4 champion Tom Canning and Giacomo Petrobelli.

The Pro-Am entry will see Canning finally make his GT3 debut with TF Sport seven months late as he was initially supposed to partner Graham Davidson under the original season lineup, but the aftermath of Covid-19 put paid to Canning and Davidson’s plans.

Canning, who took GT Open Pro-Am victory on his debut at Spa-Francorchamps with Ahmad Al Harthy earlier this month, will partner Petrobelli makes his GT racing return following a six-year hiatus.

“I’m really excited to be back racing at the Silverstone 500 for my British GT return, this time in GT3,” said Canning.

“Now I have completed my first race weekend with TF Sport in GT3 and won my first race in the class, I am very confident going into the weekend racing alongside Giacomo in the TF Sport-prepared Vantage!”

Another new entry also sees the 2 Seas Motorsport McLaren team expand their lineup to three cars.

Al Faisal al Zubair and Martin Kodric will join fellow Silver Cup crews Angus Fender/Dean Macdonald and Jack Mitchell/Jordan Witt in the 2 Seas garage for the Silverstone event.

Al Zubair, a double Porsche GT3 Middle East champion, and Kodric, the 2018 GT World Challenge Asia winner, will both be making their British GT debuts at Silverstone but the team’s co-owner, Isa Al-Khalifa, is confident they will get a good result just a year on from the team’s formation.

“I am really pleased to welcome Al Faisal to the team alongside Martin for the final event of the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship season, and I am confident they will make for a really exciting pairing,” he said.

“The Silver Cup has provided some fantastic racing over the course of the season and adding a third GT3 car to our line-up is hugely exciting.

“It will be a steep learning curve for Al Faisal and Martin making their series’ debut at Silverstone, but both have achieved strong results at the highest level and the team is looking to end the season on a high and build on the overall race win from last time out at Snetterton.”

Covid measures will prevent spectators from attending British GT’s #SilverstoneShowdown.

However, fans around the world can watch the three-hour season finale live on British GT’s Facebook page and website, as well as SRO’s GT World Youtube channel, from 12:45 GMT on November 8.
