Following the delay that was announced earlier in the year, it has now been revealed that Brands Hatch will stage its rescheduled Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS event on 28/29 August.

Initially set to resume its traditional early-May date after it was cancelled last year, the decision was taken in light of ongoing health regulations in the UK to reschedule the event for a more suitable time later in the year.

Taking place over the final weekend in August, Brands will become the only venue to stage international GT/Sportscar racing this year. The upside also being that there is far greater opportunity to welcome fans to the Kent circuit. Like the traditional May fixture the new date also falls on a Bank Holiday weekend, giving fans the ideal opportunity to soak up the atmosphere during two busy days of on-track action.

Brands Hatch will now appear as the fourth round of the five event Sprint Cup and the seventh event on the full Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS calendar. It will signal the resumption of the campaign following a four-week break after the Total 24 Hours of Spa and falls one week before the Endurance Cup contest at the Nürburgring (3-5 September).

The start of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS season gets ever closer, teams will step up preparations this week when the series conducts its official test days (25/26 March). Look out for coverage on this on the site over the next few days with running scheduled for Thursday and Friday at Circuit Paul Ricard. The competitive action begins with an Endurance Cup event at Monza on 16-18 April, with the Sprint Cup launching at Magny-Cours, forming part of a packed schedule alongside Championnat de France FFSA GT on 7-9 May.
