G-Cat Racing will return to the Intelligent Money British GT grid for the 2021 season with Porsche machinery an entrant which brings German’s marque’s representation in the GT3 class to its highest number since 2014.

The Am/Am duo of Shamus Jennings and Greg Caton, who also owns the team, will race a 911 GT3 R and they aim to compete the first half of the year at Brands Hatch and Donington Park as well as the blue riband  three-hour Silverstone 500 event.

The team’s entry, along with Team Parker Racing switch to Porsche power, ensures that the famous German marque has its highest number of entries on the grid since 2014, where there were also two entrants from the Trakspeed team.

Despite only making a handful of appearances since that season, the Stuttgart manufacturer remains the series’ winningest construction having scored a record 156 victories in all classes since the championship’s formation in 1993 including 55 overall and 33 GT3 victories.

Being the only so far confirmed all Amateur pairing, Jennings and Caton are very unlikely to challenge for outright honours but as enthusiastic amateurs they are instead focusing on the fun factor and after the tumultuous 2020 they now feel that the time is right to return to the series.

“Obviously 2020 was a bit tricky, and especially for Greg and I who predominantly want to have fun when we go racing. But with the situation now improving considerably we feel ready to return to British GT,” said Jennings.

“We’re able to commit to the first three races at the moment, and the calendar shake-up has worked in our favour as we prefer the longer endurance format.

“Brands Hatch is G-Cat’s local circuit and the GP loop will look resplendent in late spring, so that’s bound to be a highlight.”

G-Cat and the series will return to Brands Hatch on May 22/23.
