Ian Davies, the Team Manager of Veloce Racing, says everyone is eager to get the inaugural season of the Extreme E Championship underway this weekend, with the Desert X Prix in Saudi Arabia getting the year started.

Veloce Racing are one of the nine teams on show in the Al Ula region of Saudi Arabia, with Stéphane Sarrazin and Jamie Chadwick being tasked with driving duties, a partnership that Davies believes will be in contention for honours amid a strong-looking field.

Davies says this weekend in Saudi Arabia will see a ‘very different’ event to what anyone is used to, but the uncertainty gives anybody in the field an opportunity for a big result straight out of the blocks.  And as a result, he cannot wait for the year to begin.

“Finally, it’s race week!” said Davies.  “We’ve waited a long time to say that in Extreme E, but now it’s here and the whole Veloce Racing team are so eager to get started, including myself!

“Jamie and Stéphane make a great partnership. Between them, they have a huge amount of experience and raw talent, so I’m very confident that we will be in the mix in such a high-calibre and star-studded field.

“Al Ula is going to pose its own challenges, logistically and of course when it gets down to the racing. It’s certainly going to be very different to what anyone in Extreme E has done previously, and being such a leap into the unknown, I think everybody has an opportunity to bag a result here so it will be fascinating to watch.”
