Jamie Chadwick extends her W Series lead after crossing the chequered flag to make it a perfect streak of 2022 wins at the French Grand Prix.

After a penalty during the Paul Ricard qualifying saw reigning champion Jamie Chadwick drop two grid places, she managed to move passed Beitske Visser and Nerea Marti to claim the first step on the French podium.

Pole-sitter Visser was passed twice by the British driver as the race in the South of France saw two safety car periods. During the opening lap, Visser’s maiden pole position only held up for two corners as Chadwick lunged to take the lead into Turn 3.

Chadwick’s lead in the drivers’ standings has extended further as she holds 70-points from her five 2022 victories.

It was a great day for Quantfury as both Belen Garcia and Nerea Marti earned themselves second and third place, sharing their celebrations on the podium alongside Chadwick. The race saw both Spaniard’s achieve their best W Series results, as well as Garcia’s first ever W Series podium.

The top-10 finishers were Alice Powell, who made up six places and finished in fifth, Marta Garcia, Fabienne Wohlwend and British drivers Sarah Moore, Abbi Pulling and Jessica Hawkins.

Abbie Eaton brought out a safety car on lap one as she made contact with Marta Garcia after her car flew into the air between both Marta and Belen.

The field followed the safety car through the pit-lane whilst the track was cleared and green flagged after six minutes. The second safety car of the race was brought out not too long after as Chloe Chambers and Emely De Heus collided at Turn 3.

After the second safety car Visser snatched back the lead from Chadwick until the Brit passed her again at Turn 2, later being overtaken by Belen and towards the end of the race, Nerea moved up into third. Garcia went wheel-to wheel with team-mate Wohlwend and passed her at Turn 6.
