Corey Heim wins at Kansas in a dominating fashion

2 Mins read

It was proven today that Corey Heim would be untouchable during the ARCA Menards Series race at Kansas. Heim started from the pole, and would lead nearly every lap, earning his ninth ARCA win in his career.

During the first Kansas race on the ARCA schedule earlier this year, Heim was in a position to win the race, but he and Drew Dollar would make contact coming off of turn four, causing them to hit the outside wall, ending his day at the win.

The race was originally going to be held on Saturday, but due to several periods of rain showers, it would be postponed until Sunday.

“First of all, thank you so much to Venturini Motorsports, Billy Venturini, the whole Venturini family, I wouldn’t be here without them,” said Heim during a press release. “It was definitely a great performance for us from what we had in the spring. Going through that adversity, I feel like we should have had a really similar performance back there in the spring.

Rev Racing driver, Nick Sanchez, came home with 2nd position. By finishing runner-up, he would also win the General Tire Superspeedway Challenge championship. “To get Max Siegel that, that’s awesome and a testament to my team and all they do on these big tracks,” said Sanchez.

Sammy Smith was able to hold off Daniel Dye in a near finish for the 3rd spot. Ryan Huff, driving for his family team, rounded out the top five. It was his first top five, along with his third top ten of the season.

Huff wasn’t the only back marker driver with a good race. Christian Rose, the driver for Cook Racing Technologies, came home with 7th position. The full time female drivers, Amber Balcaen and Toni Breidinger, would finish 8th and 9th, respectively. Jon Garrett of Fast Track Racing would round out the top ten.

Bad luck continues to strike for Rajah Caruth, earning a 12th place finish. Earlier in the race, Caruth blew a tire, and had to make an unscheduled pit stop. He would rally his way back to the third position, behind his teammate, Sanchez. With two laps to go, Caruth was in position for a top three finish. Coming into turn one, he would blow another tire, causing him to hit the outside wall. His race would eventually end after that. With a 12th place finish, he has now fallen back 38 points behind Nick Sanchez. Although Caruth is still mathematically in contention for the championship, he will have to push his hardest during the final three races of the season.

The next ARCA race will take place at Bristol Motor Speedway on 15 September. It will also be the final race of the 2022 ARCA East season, where Sammy Smith will be looking to defend his title.
