Jesse Love dominates Talladega to capture first superspeedway win

2 Mins read

For the past few years, Venturini Motorsports has had dominance when ARCA races at the superspeedways, and this week, their superspeedway luck continues.

Leading a race high 35 laps, Jesse Love proved to be the dominant driver for most of the race, capturing his first win of the 2023 ARCA season, and his third career win in total.

With the help from his teammate, Gus Dean, Love was able to take the lead with seven laps to go, and eventually held on until the end.

“I love Talladega. I was here last year on the spotter stand with watching Tyler win with Noah [Gragson],” Love stated. “My mom doesn’t get to come to a lot of races. She’s always back home supporting our family. This was the one race she really wanted to come to. She was my biggest inspiration today to win.”

Gus Dean, who ran in the top five for nearly the entire race, came home with the second position.

“These Venturini cars, in my opinion, are the four strongest cars in the field,” Dean stated. “For 75 laps, the teammate situation is the greatest tool that we have. But that last lap is really hard to get done, especially when you have a driver like Jesse and equipment just as good as yours and not a ton of help from behind.”

Bret Holmes, who made a last-lap charge for the lead, would end up finishing in third. Rookie driver Andrés Pérez de Lara would lead 28 laps in the race and tie his best career finish with fourth, and Sean Corr ended up with fifth. Jack Wood, pole-sitter Taylor Gray, Scott Melton, Frankie Muniz, and Jason White rounded out the rest of the top ten.

Muniz, who scored his second top ten finish in a row, has taken over the points lead, only three points ahead of Love. Greg Van Alst, the original points leader, was taken out in an early race wreck, and has ultimately dropped back to third in the standings.

The next ARCA Menards Series race is scheduled to take place at Kansas Speedway on 6 May.
