Mercedes go into the second consecutive race at the Red Bull Ring this weekend for the Austrian Grand Prix, on the back of a double podium last time out albeit a long way behind race winner and championship leader Max Verstappen.
Scuderia AlphaTauri Honda added a single point to their constructor’s tally after Yuki Tsunoda brought his car home in tenth, team-mate Pierre Gasly had to retire after being hit by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
The Styrian Grand Prix saw Lance Stroll finish in the points yet again for the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team after a great battle with Fernando Alonso and both Ferrari’s. Team-mate Sebastian Vettel finished twelfth.
Both Scuderia Ferrari drivers did brilliantly to recover a good haul of points at the Styrian Grand Prix. Sainz finished sixth after starting outside the top ten and Leclerc finished seventh after ending the first lap in eighteenth place.
For the first time in the hybrid era Mercedes have gone four races without a victory after Verstappen won the Styrian Grand Prix, in perhaps the biggest sign yet of the Silver Arrows being on the back foot.
Lewis Hamilton slipped further behind Max Verstappen in the world championship after finishing second at the Styrian Grand Prix, team-mate Valtteri Bottas was a long way behind in third.
