Ricciardo Takes Positives From Disappointing Day

1 Mins read

Daniel Ricciardo was keen to take the positives from a frustrating day of testing at Barcelona, largely caused by the unpredictable weather. The Toro Rosso driver was seventh fastest after completing 61 laps but the intermittent rain throughout the day made it difficult to carry out any worthwhile work in the dry.

But with all testing time vital, Ricciardo was happy to have gained some experience on Pirelli’s new intermediate and wet tyres, something which may come in handy at the Australian Grand Prix two weeks from now. Despite that, the Australian is praying for more driver-friendly conditions on his final day of testing on Sunday.

“Looking on the positive side, the changing weather meant I was able to try the Pirelli rain, intermediate and soft tyres, so that was interesting. However, the rain did make life tricky for all of us and although we got plenty done today, I’m looking forward to achieving more on my last day on Sunday, when the weather is meant to be much better.”

Teammate Jean-Eric Vergne will be back in the hot seat tomorrow as the team switches its attention to race weekend simulation work where a more accurate representation of their pace may become apparent.
