Nick Tandy Named Best Porsche Privateer Of 2012

After a successful season both in Europe and the US Briton Nick Tandy collected the Porsche Cup, awarded by the manufacturer to the best privateer Porsche driver in GT racing.
Porsche will field a pair of works backed cars in the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship run by Porsche AG Team Manthey.
The organisers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans have announced the 16 invited entries for next year’s race, to be held on the weekend of 22-23 June.
There has been a date change to next year’s running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The historic endurance race, which celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2013, has been put back by a week. The original date had been on the 15-16th June.
As Audi took dominating victory at Le Mans last weekend in the 2012 running of the 24 hour race history was made as the first hybrid car to take the top positions at Circuit de la Sarthe. The hybrid technology behind the win was produced by Williams Hybrid Power – a company set up by the Williams F1 team to develop the technology behind their first KERS system.
Starworks Motorsport turned their first visit to the Circuit de la Sarthe into a class victory as the American squad emerged as the best – and most reliable – entry in a hotly contested LMP2 category at the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Tom Kimber-Smith scored his third 24 Hours of Le Mans class victory from four starts, and his second consecutive LMP2 win in the race, last weekend with Starworks Motorsport.
“This is no doubt a historic victory for Audi. We were the first to win Le Mans with a direct-injection turbo gasoline engine and the first to be successful with a diesel engine. It’s a great result that Audi is now the first brand to have achieved victory with a hybrid vehicle – and right on the first run.â€
